We wanted to paddle near active tidewater glaciers, so we arranged wtih Alaska Sea Kayakers in Whitter for equipment and support. Shawn Butler and several of her friends from Anchorage joined us. We spent two days in Harriman Fjord, about two hours by water taxi from Whittier. We camped across the fjord from Surprise glacier, which provided regular thunderous rumbles as it calved little iceberglets into the fjord.
